It’s hard to believe it’s been well over a month since I’ve posted here, but life has been a bit chaotic. I have blessed with meeting many incredible ladies through my mentoring sessions though, and have been spending time with my children, preparing for a move, and dealing with other life changes that have demanded so much of my attention. But I am back, and so excited for Spring and to meet new and returning clients!! The weather today is making it very hard to be patient – I can hardly wait for sandals and sundresses and time at the pool. =)
I did want to share a little about my February workshop in Casper, Wyoming – I must say it was even more fun than I imagined and cannot wait to do it again!!! I was lucky enough to meet 8 fabulous ladies and teach them all the ins and outs of camera buttons, gear, lenses, lighting, you name it. It was such a blast, and next up on the books is Billings, MT!! If you are in that area and interested in attending, please contact me – details coming SOON!
Here are a few shots from our day together. The wind was blowing 30-40 mph and it was freezing, so we did quite a bit of indoor shooting around the house and braved the cold for only a few minutes. I still think we got some good stuff though, and the day itself was incredible. So grateful to all those ladies for coming out!

My little people are waiting impatiently for Santa Claus to arrive; on the list of requests? A rabbit…yes, a real rabbit. And a tiny little Iron Man figurine that spins around. Sheesh! I had no idea that Santa was required to provide live animals and to fetch said toy that has never been seen. =) But it certainly brings the magic back into Christmas with such excitable little people filled with wonder and joy.
This girlie is one of inquisition and curiosity…and is already suspicious of Santa. lol. We happened to do the whole sit-on-Santa’s lap event, and when it was all over we had a conversation that went like this…
S: “Mom, I didn’t know he had all that white stuff on his face.”
Me: “It’s a beard, honey.”
S: “That is not a beard, Mom. It’s a WIG!!”
God love her…believing may not be a longterm event for this kiddo! =)
And then she had a conversation with her daddy after seeing him once more and said emphatically, “Santa is just a person with a real job who happens to dress up in a costume and visit kids, huh, Dad.” Ummm, what do you say to that besides provide a laugh and a wink?! =)
Kids are FUNNY. And my special people make my world so much fun. I hope you are all enjoying the buildup to Christmas!

My heart is wrapped up in one tiny little 3-year-old little man, who considers himself to be nothing short of BIG. I love him so much it often hurts, and words are quite hard to come by when you feel that way about another human being.
He is nothing short of brilliant. (Okay, I might be a bit biased. I know. I can’t help myself!) He’s kind and sweet and the most giving and compliant 3-year-old I’ve ever been around. He’s hilarious and spunky and filled with energy 25 hours out of every day. He is joy. He is mine. And I’m just so incredibly grateful for him.
I took a million pics, of course, ha…and just grabbed a few off the top. Happy Birthday to my baby – I love you to the moon and back!!!
These first few are from a little last-minute photo shoot this afternoon – messy hair and all. ;) My daughter jumped in a few without a hair combing all day, and her own selection of clothing. They matched awesomely. Is that a word?? =)

This pretty lady is my friend, someone who I have gotten to know over the past 4 years and have grown to love. She is not only beautiful on the outside, but also on the inside – you can tell by the way she mothers her little people, the bond she has with her man and the solid friend that she is to me. I am so grateful for her!
We went out the other night for dinner and drinks, but shot these before kicking our feet up for the night. Mel, I hope you love them and that you see just how gorgeous you are!

Lately I’ve been a bit nostalgic, realizing how quickly time is passing, taking in all the blessings that surround me, and breathing in my babes each and every day. I’ve also realized lately that I have very few pictures with my children, something I’m actually quite sad about. As I’m sure you can imagine, I take thousands of pictures of my children by themselves painting rocks, running around with baskets on their heads, playing with their prized Buzz, enjoying the great outdoors in their un-dies, and the like. And I love all those moments. I cherish them to no end. But I do wonder, will my children remember what I looked like when they were small?
I am one of those people who do not feel comfortable in front of the camera. I used to walk away anytime a camera would come out. I used to think I looked huge in every photo. I didn’t like this or that. But I’ve grown a bit and realized that it’s all nonsense. Truly, every person is a person and our children will WANT pictures to remind them of how we were when they were little. And so, I’ve decided to remedy this problem and am going to try very hard to take self portraits of us, or at least me with each one, once a month. And our first attempt was tonight. And for all of you mommies out there that are in hiding with me….wanna do this challenge together? I’d love to see your pics!!
While I’m typically the person who shys away from the camera and loathes pictures of myself (from the teeth that are screaming for invisiline, to the vein that is very Julia Robertsesque, to the multiplying wrinkles and nose that appears it was broken, even though it wasn’t), you know what? I actually ADORE these. I love them because they are us. They are silly. They are of me without my hair washed, my kids without clothes, and us together just playing in the last warmth of Fall with my favorite light source setting behind us.
I am in love with THEM. And I am determined to document me with them….the mom that they spend every waking moment with. ;)
the mom that can’t get enough of their sweet puckers…
or enough of their belly laughs…
or of their silly little personalities that bring thousands of hours of laughter…
or the sweetness that oozes out of your little man that melts you every 24 minutes…
the way that only you can make them grin and smile with stars in their eyes…
the kiss from your boy on the shoulder as he tells you for the 12th time that he loves you…
the strong-willed child that becomes tender and vulnerable for a moment…
the independence that will one day mean they don’t need you as much or as often…
the unbridled joy that runs through my house every. single. moment of the day…
the beauty that encompasses motherhood: from the joy and the laughter, to the sweat and the tears, it’s all one incredible journey…
I’m so grateful for my two little blessings.
I’m actually a little embarrassed to post these, and yet so happy to have something with us together.
For all your MAMMAS out there: join me! Let’s do this thing…once a month, post some pictures of you with your children. I’m going to put it on the calendar and try to maintain it for at least a year. Then leave me a comment so I can see what you’ve been up to.
These were a spur-of-the-moment treasure. No primping. My kids were blowing bubbles and dumping water, and well, I decided to sit in the grass and have them come join me. I think we could all use a few more documented moments with our little people! ;)

I adore this face. I love her energy and her spunk and her need to create and DO SOMETHING constantly. She is busy and bossy and lovely and magical to me.
And even though these 5 minutes with her were actually incredibly frustrating because she didn’t want to look at me due to her light sensitivity and well, stubbornness, my heart happened to skip a beat when I downloaded this image. I love her more than life itself, no matter what.
She went from throwing up all night long to waking up like this. How does she do it?? I need her beauty secrets. ;)
And one more of only a mere handful taken…just because she’s beautiful and she’s mine.

I think my little man had to have been dreaming while looking this peaceful, not to mention the fact that he is a kid with no responsibilities, gets to rest whenever he feels like it and is generally adorable no matter what angle you happen to glance at him from. I would think that happy children should simply be happily dreaming all the time, but then again, I know from my 5-year-old that Ursula can make for some scary dreams.
And then there’s me. What am I dreaming of at the moment? Well, for some sleep, actually. Both my children are vomiting tonight, and this handsome babe above also has a double ear infection, outer ear infection, perforated ear drum, high fever and a cold to ice the cake. My poor babies! And so here I am after midnight, waiting for the next desperate call for the trash-can-wielding mommy to come to the rescue, change the sheets for the 33rd time and make it all better for the next 23 minutes before we start all over. And so I wonder if attempting sleep at this point is even sane? I can only imagine that the wake-up calls will then become much harder to hear and well, I just don’t wake up happy sometimes. =) But this sweet sleep captured above sure looks nice to me. ;)
I had a session cancel over the weekend, so instead, you may find my little people gracing the blog over the next few days! Saying a prayer for my little people tonight. I hear one of them so I best run. Hope you’re dreaming much more peacefully than we are!

Does something seem out of place to anyone else? My son has decided his bed is entirely overrated and has become a master at finding odd places to sleep at night while no one is looking. ;) I usually discover these scenarios around 10:30 when I haven’t been paying much attention to anything other than my computer screen, the laundry or a book.
He’s still just 2, but he’s got mad sneaking skills, balancing skills and zipping skills to go along with his adorableness. He cracks me up! He’d zipped himself in and was discovered only after he rolled over and pushed his little foot up against the wall; at least I’m getting a good laugh at the end of each day. =)
Motherhood has to be the most hilarious job in the world! =)
